Three boys hospitalised after drinking brew meant for making arrack

Police stated the boys aged 16 to 18 years have been strolling residence by means of a sugarcane area in Puliyur colony once they stumbled upon a can of brew with jaggery and different components.
Three teenaged boys have been hospitalised, allegedly after consuming a brew used for making illicit liquor, at Puliyur close to Kullanchavadi in Cuddalore district.
Police sources stated the boys aged 16 to 18 years have been strolling residence by means of a sugarcane area in Puliyur colony on June 3 night once they stumbled upon a can of brew with jaggery and different components.
The trio consumed the brew at 3 p.m. and returned residence. At round 6.30 p.m. the boys began vomiting and have been admitted to the Cuddalore Government General Hospital.
Police stated the brew meant for making arrack was peddled within the open by one Boobalan, 29, following the closure of liquor outlets within the State because of the lockdown. He was arrested.
A senior police officer stated that the police had stepped up surveillance by conducting shock checks in numerous areas to curb illicit distillation of arrack.
The Prohibition Enforcement Wing police have booked 287 instances, arrested 298 individuals and seized 2,353 litres of illicit distilled arrack, 1,285 litres of fermented wash, 750 litres of IMFL and 52 litres of toddy from May 21 until June 4.
