Toxic gas leaks at Bhiwandi in Thane; no casualty

A poisonous gas leaked from some cylinders stored at an open floor and unfold in close by areas in Maharashtra’s Thane district, a civic official stated on Sunday.
The incident occurred round 10 pm on Saturday in Bhiwandi township, however there was no report of any casualty, Thane Municipal Corporation’s regional catastrophe administration cell chief Santosh Kadam stated.
Sixteen cylinders containing sulphur dioxide had been stored at the bottom in Chiknipada space of Khuni village in Bhiwandi.
The gas leaked from two cylinders and unfold in the world, he stated.
Local firemen and police rushed to the spot and plugged the leakage after about two hours, the official stated.
“No casualty has been reported so far,” he stated.
