Tripura CPI(M) leader’s premises searched

Crime Branch of Tripura police on Friday performed a 10-hour search on properties of senior CPI(M) chief and former minister Pabitra Kar. The raids had been linked with ongoing investigation into corruption fees towards the chief.
Mr Kar and the CPI(M) termed the raids politically motivated. They stated occasion veteran chief and former minister Badal Choudhury was earlier accused of ‘corruption charges’, however police had been unable to even submit a chargesheet.
Crime Branch officers launched simultaneous raids within the residence of Pabitra Kar at Ramnagar locality right here and his ancestral home at Khayerpur close to right here. The raids began at 8.30 a.m. and continued until 7.30 p.m.
A senior police official stated the searches had been in reference to an FIR lately registered at Bodhjungnagar police station in west Tripura. Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(C) of Prevention of Corruption Act had been integrated within the FIR. Pabitra Kar had allegedly amassed enormous money and properties disproportionate to his identified sources of revenue throughout erstwhile successive CPI(M) led left entrance governments.
After completion of search operation, Mr. Kar stated the sleuths enquired about all belongings of his home. “Even they did not spare kitchen articles,” he advised newsmen.
He termed the raids in his properties politically motivated and stated he was able to face any probe in any matter. He claimed he inherited some properties together with agricultural land from household.
Mr Kar’s spouse Roma Das is a CPI(M) central committee member.
