Two held in Karipur honeytrap case

The police busted a honeytrap racket that used to focus on expatriates reaching Karipur airport in the district. Two individuals had been arrested on Thursday.
Several males who travelled via Karipur had reportedly fallen prey to the honeytrap set by the racketeers. The racket had reportedly introduced in girls from outdoors Kerala to entice unsuspecting males travelling via Karipur.
The police arrested Nishad from Nallalam and Yakoob from Peruvallur following a grievance by a person from Perinthalmanna.
The racketeers used girls from Goa and Bengaluru to entice their victims. After guiding them to lodges on the airport, they’d threaten the victims and click on their photos in compromising positions with the ladies. The racket would then use the photographs to extort cash from the victims.
Some individuals who had been trapped by the racket at Karipur have reportedly misplaced large quantities of cash. Very few have come ahead to complain. The police had arrested one Shihab hailing from Vengara just a few months in the past following a grievance.
