Going by the Supreme Court ruling within the Prakash Singh case, an officer posted as DGP/head of police drive in a State will maintain workplace for a minimal two years irrespective of the date of superannuation.
Though the UPSC cleared 5 names in 2017 and three names in 2019, the State authorities can insist on 5 names, going by provisions beneath the Tamil Nadu Police Establishment Act, sources mentioned and added that the State Government can decide anyone from the list despatched by the UPSC to move the police drive.
