Valmiki seer withdraws threat of fast after Yediyurappa’s assurance

The ‘Maharshi Valmiki Jatre’, a conference of members of the Valmiki group held at Rajanahalli in Harihar taluk of Davangere, witnessed dramatic developments on Tuesday with the seer of Valmiki Guru Peetha asserting an indefinite fast in entrance of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, solely to withdraw it a bit later.
During the conference, which noticed the participation of each present and former Ministers, aside from the Chief Minister, Sri Prasannanand Swami of Valmiki Guru Peetha made an emotional attraction for a rise in reservation for the group underneath the Scheduled Tribe class.
“If the government does not increase the reservation for the community as per the population to 7.5% by March 9, I will launch an indefinite fast,” the seer introduced, including that he would proceed to fast unto loss of life if the demand was not met. Mr. Yediyurappa reduce him brief and promised to extend the reservation shortly. Satisfied, the seer introduced withdrawal of the threat of fast.
Subsequently, Mr. Yediyurappa stated, “The reservation percentage will be increased soon. We will discuss the issue with Ministers of the community.”
