Vigilance begins questioning K.M. Shaji

A particular unit of the Kozhikode Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Friday began interrogating Indian Union Muslim League legislator K.M. Shaji in reference to a case registered towards him for allegedly amassing wealth past his lawful sources of earnings.

During the raids carried out on Monday and Tuesday, the VACB had seized unaccounted cash totalling ₹ 47, 35, 500 and about 60 sovereigns of gold ornaments from his home in Kannur and ₹ 30,000, 475 gm of gold ornaments and foreign currency echange of assorted nations from his home in Kozhikode.
However the gold ornaments and foreign currency echange have been returned to him. Mr. Shaji represented Azhikode meeting constituency in Kannur district and he’s looking for re-election from the section now.
Earlier, in its preliminary report submitted to the Kozhikode Vigilance Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge, the VACB stated that Mr. Shaji had amassed further earnings of ₹ 1.4 crore within the final 9 years. His identified supply of incomes was ₹ 88,57,452, it stated.
