Wearing of mask made obligatory; ₹ 1,000 penalty for violators

Intensifying its efforts to examine the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the second wave of which has grow to be a trigger of concern, the State authorities on Monday issued an order making it obligatory to put on facemasks in public locations, work areas and means of transport.

The authorities will forthwith impose penalty of ₹ 1,000 in opposition to these violating the order. Any deviation from the order would appeal to prosecution underneath Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 of the IPC in addition to different relevant legal guidelines.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, who can be chairperson of the State Executive Committee on catastrophe administration, directed all of the district Collectors and Commissioners/Superintendents of Police to strictly implement the directions.
