The Election Commission of India on Friday introduced the by-election to a Rajya Sabha seat from West Bengal that was vacated by the resignation of then Trinamool (*9*) MP Dinesh Trivedi in February.
The ECI stated the ballot and counting could be held on August 9. Mr. Trivedi had resigned from the Rajya Sabha on February 12, whereas the time period was as much as April 2, 2026. He then joined the BJP in March.
The fee stated that COVID-19 protocols corresponding to necessary carrying of masks and bodily distancing could be adopted throughout the by-election course of and that the West Bengal Chief Secretary would depute a senior officer to make sure that the foundations had been adopted.
