Kasaragod district panchayat president Baby Balakrishnan on Monday defended the non permanent appointment of wives of three accused in the Periya twin murder case. The appointments had been made on the Kanhangad district hospital.
Her rationalization got here amidst a robust protest raised by the opposition events. On Monday, Youth League activists marched to the district panchayat workplace to protest towards the unlawful appointment of the wives of the three accused.
Following this, Ms. Balakrishnan denied the allegations of illegal appointment, saying that the staff comprising the hospital superintendent and the nursing superintendent interviewed and chosen them. There was nothing uncommon about it, she advised the media.
“Family background was not checked and all they did was approve the list they had prepared, The appointment for the post of sweeper is temporary and it is a coincidence that the wives of the accused were selected,” she mentioned, including that those that had interviewed them didn’t learn about it.
“Don’t the wives of the accused have the appropriate to reside? Just as a result of they’re wives of the accused, do not they’ve human rights and are they not entitled to work?” Ms. Balakrishnan requested, defending the appointments.
She claimed that many had been reluctant to return for the interview as a result of of the COVID-19 lockdown.
